Supplier Engagement Standards
We ensure that our suppliers adhere to ethical standards by implementing a due diligence process that follows the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas. This process involves:
Establishing a strong company management system that defines our policies, procedures, and responsibilities for ethical mineral procurement.
Identifying and assessing the risks of adverse impacts in our mineral supply chain, such as human rights violations, environmental damage, or conflict financing.
Designing and implementing strategies to prevent or mitigate these risks, such as engaging with suppliers, conducting audits, or reporting incidents.
Verifying and monitoring the performance and compliance of our suppliers, using independent third-party assessments and verification mechanisms.
Reporting and disclosing our due diligence activities and outcomes to our stakeholders, such as customers, partners, regulators, or the public.
We comply with the Minerals and Mining Policy of South Africa, which sets out the legal and regulatory framework for responsible mineral procurement in our regions of operation. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of quality, transparency, and accountability in our mineral supply chain.
NOTE ON PROCUREMENT: We, as Oreways Mining SA, are open to various options of engagement. One of these being negotiating a mutually beneficial ‘off take’ agreement, if the mine and or the washing plant can meet our requirements and meet the quantities we are sourcing on a regular basis.
